Annoying Individuals

We all know them. People who, either through ignorance or on purpose, bother the living crap out of everybody around them. Sometimes there’s just no explaining their behaviour, they aren’t sick or broken, they are just purposefully bothersome to everyone around them. Most times they can’t seem to help it, no matter what the consequences are. They could be risking everything and still they persist. Why?

I don’t know the whole answer, but clearly it is not just humans that have the market cornered on annoying self destructive behaviour. How else can you explain this moronic monkey?  I mean, that is not wise behaviour, on any level.  It’s funny as hell, but certainly not wise.

Guitar Roundup

Ok, so here’s some videos to while the time away.

First, a style of playing I had never seen before, tap guitar. That’s pretty cool right there.
Then we have some even crazier ukulele playing, that’s one caffeinated dude.

Finally a cover version of a song that is much better than the original in my opinion.  The guitar is ok, but this guy’s voice is what really makes it good.

Links stolen liberally from all over the Internet, but Boing Boing and Wired are the sources in this case.

Daily Dose of Risk Taking

Ok, two quick video links that really couldn’t be more about taking risks.  I’m a pasty geek and a parent so I won’t even run with scissors, and paper cuts are a prime reason why we should all use computers.  These guys really take that to the other end of the risk spectrum, way past “coolly ignoring the danger” and “scars make me look dangerous and experienced” through to “those limbs were just slowing me down anyway”.  First we have a very cool video about a freaky bike messenger race.  It’s enough to make your heart stop, with the traffic and pedestrians and busses and things.  Those guys are nuts.

Then a stunt where a guy dives out of a plane and jumps into another plane.  It’s as easy as pie, looking at this thing.  Just watch his mom’s face and you know he’s a really thoughtful son.

Now I need to go and take a hit off my inhaler….

YouTube Be Down…

I think I will admit that I have a problem.  YouTube is down, and has been for most of the morning (for some reason), and I can’t take it.  That’s not a good sign, my addiction is quite real, it would seem.

The Internet is the new TV

Give me points for being completely late and pointing out something incredibly obvious here, but really, have you not noticed that the Internet is replacing regular old TV at a fantastic pace? I mean the channel surfing part of TV, as opposed to the part where you watch something at length. If you are just after a quick 2 or 3 minute bit of silliness/information then there’s just no way TV can compete. To that end, here’s 7 or 8 minutes worth of weird crap to surf through.

A way too strange example how life is stranger than fiction, this “caterpillar” looks like something out of a Jim Henson shop somewhere, or computer animated even. It’s kind of cuddly, but looks fake.

Next we have another Darth Vader video, this one a careful edit job from “Empire Strikes Back”, wherein Darth has a sudden case of the immaturities. Funny, and of course, nerdy.

Then a music video from a favourite band of ours, Ok Go. I first saw them dance to one of their songs on Mad TV, and the song and performance were so memorable and catchy I bought their album shortly afterwards. Watching these guys dance to one of their own songs should not be this entertaining, but it was obvious they spent a lot of time getting it just right, and it was funny. Anyway, in the very same vein, this is a music video for another song of theirs and it’s all done on treadmills. The care and practice taken here is incredible, and once again, funny. Have a look. It’s good good stuff.
