Google Ad update

Just thought I would let you know, in the spirit of full disclosure, that I have “earned” 67 cents through the pimping of Mundane Ramblings.

I’m thinking that I shouldn’t quit my day job, maybe. It’s sure nothing like what some other bloggers are making.

It might have something to do with the fact that they are more motivated to write….

Holy crap

I can only describe this as brilliant. First off you take the spoken words from a few online dictionaries. You know, when you aren’t sure how to pronounce a word, they have a little sound file of someone saying the word for you. Anyway, you take all of these words, and through painstaking remixing with karaoke music, you end up with a slightly robotic version of popular rock songs. My meager language skills certainly don’t do it justice, you just have to listen for yourself. I sampled Highway to Hell, Enter Sandman and a few others, and the subtleties of each song are there, it’s all very good.

Pretty neat, those Google ads

In case you folks aren’t aware, the ads on this page are dynamic and are automatically selected based on the content shown here. I did NOT select the religious ads shown here now because of the Pastafarianism post.

I could try and game the ads by mentioning, oh I don’t know, HP Printers, for example, but that would be wrong.

Anyway, just a note to clear that up a bit.

Well, that didn’t take very long.

In case you haven’t noticed, I just sold out officially. The blog is now what they call “ad supported”. Not only are you few faithful readers subjected to pitiful prose and watered down sarcasm courtesy of me, you are now also subjected to the bane of internet browsing: banner ads. This is now my new revenue model given my impending unemploymentedness, so you will have to just bear with it, I’m afraid. The family has to eat, and Mamma didn’t raise no fool. So, feast your eyeballs on that ad-related goodness and feel good that your annoyance is lining my pockets with hundred and thousands of fractions of pennies! I’m rolling around (naked) in a tidal wave of decimal places…mwahahahahah!

ok, got a little carried away.

Moment in the sun?

I can’t be sure but this might just be the brightest nerd moment for Mundane Ramblings. My post a little while back about lava sledding is #4 right now in Google searches for “lava sled”. Combine that with an Associated Press article that CNN picked up a few days ago about lava sledding, and the blog has had a very busy few days, or busy at least by my standards.
