Harry Potter-esque moving pictures

I’m sure there’s a frigging boatload of technology behind this company, and it’s a fairly neat idea, but I can’t help but think of the moving photographs described in the Harry Potter books when I see this in action.

Not to mention that’s it’s kind of creepy (no, really creepy), I’m having a hard time imagining this taking off in any real way.  Watching that image track my mouse with those bloodshot eyeballs and then smile is a bit too much.

Predictably, I saw this on Metafilter.

Lunar Eclipse

Hey kids.

Sorry to geek out on you for a bit here, but it looks like there will be a very good lunar eclipse happening early tomorrow morning. It seems that the weather will cooperate, and the time to check in our area is shown very nicely in this little NASA graphic:

That’s tad early, but I might toddle out in my jammies if I wake up on time.  So there you go.  Wilson, I expect some pictures of this event.

Connectivity problems

If you are trying to send any mail to vallentyne.com since Friday or so you will undoubtedly get a delay message, or have it bounce back. A small problem with our wireless connection since Thursday night’s incredible thunderstorm has left us without Internet at home. With any luck we will be back online soon.

If you really need us, pick up the phone and call, ya freak.

Photoshop Masters

Alright folks, test your powers of perception on this little quiz I stole from Neatorama.  It’s a simple thing, 10 pictures, you guess if it’s a photograph or made by computer.

I must be jaded, since I handily got 8 out of 10 on this test.  But then again, maybe it’s just not that hard.
