Nikki’s Birthday

Just wanted to be sure to wish Nikki a Happy Birthday here, even though I have emailed and Facebooked, and SMSed the same message to her already today.  Technology is wonderful, but it can be a tad much at times…

Love you sweetheart!  Looking fine at 29….

btw, Nikki is surprised because I brought my torch, which I normally leave at home, but in this case I have kept tucked behind my ear for safe keeping.  You should take care of your torch….

Take the fun

Cael has of late been getting a little more philosophical in his views on waiting and patience.  This is a huge change for a 4 year old who until recently could become impatient in mid-jump waiting to hit the ground again.  His new zen-like state of existence can best be summed up by his recent thoughts on driving to Arnprior:

“Mom, I don’t take the drive, I just take the fun.”

Now if that kid doesn’t have it figured out, I don’t know who does.

Nikki found her prince

Looks like Nikki upgraded husbands on the weekend, I’m no longer the object of her affection, instead replaced by this impossibly cute toad.

Who can compete with that? Although she does look at tad unhinged there…

Rock Band

We spent some time at Mom’s trailer this weekend and had a good time in spite of the rain, maybe due to the fact that we were lucky enough to be able to play Rock Band when the rain did come down. Just ask Nikki how long I have been whining about this, she will tell you. Well I have never played until now and with the help of some helpful cousins the lads and I were rocking out with, um varying degrees of success. It’s the best family game I could imagine. Maybe Santa will provide this year?

Here’s a couple is shots from the jam session.

3am huh?

The body rebells more and more against late nights as I age. 3am is not nearly as fun the next day as it used to be. Still a late night jam session is good for the soul once in a while.

For instance, Nikki enjoyed her cereal as I (ahem) made some lunch for me and the boys.

For the ladies…

This morning I was getting ready for work and Cael was buzzing around as he usually does in the early, early morning.  I had showered and he watched me shave with the usual barrage of questions.  Then he asked to get his hair done and I obliged, lots of gel and hair spray, just the way he likes it.  I then offered him some “colomb” (that’s the way he pronounces cologne at the moment), which he also likes.  I put some on too and he asked:

“Dad, why do you wear colomb? Is it for the ladies?”

I responded “No, I wear it for Mommy, you wear it for the ladies.”  (What?  I’m not as stupid as I look here people…)

To which he responded “I wear it for Mommy too.”

A smart man, and impossibly cute.  Where does he come up with stuff like “for the ladies”?
