Mallakhamb means Thighs of Granite

Let me say without doubt that you will never forget seeing this video.  It’s called Mallakhamb, and it’s Indian pole gymnastics, and it also makes regular gymnastics look like a slumber party.  No man can watch this without cringing.  Wired has the goods.

Cripes, that looks painful.  Painfully impressive.

Good Gravy, Old Spice Guy Wins at Everything

Not content to just make the most memorable ads in recent memory that I can memorize or write a memo about, Old Spice Guy has been busy filming direct responses to people on Twitter, and the interwebs at large.  There are too many to link to directly, but the Old Spice channel on YouTube has them, and man are they funny.

And his goodbye to his legions of adoring fans:

This is the most amazing bit of marketing I have ever seen.  The cost of doing this probably wasn’t even that much, but they probably had to have a team of writers to keep the quips coming.  Brilliant work, you can’t deny the wonderful creativity behind this campaign.

The Power of Time

I thoroughly enjoyed this little talk about how you perceive time, how cultures and countries tend to perceive time, and how it affects everything.  Fascinating stuff, and the animations make it really pretty cool too.

It makes me want to hear a bit more, it sounds like an excerpt from a longer talk, or multiple lectures.  Very cool stuff.

Swing Child o’ Mine

Here’s a freaking brilliant idea:  write some code to make any song a swing-tempo number.  This sounds ridiculous, but really you have to give it a try:

Sweet Child O’ Mine (Swing Version) by plamere

Now that is a catchy friggin’ tune at the best of times, but make it a swing tune, and it’s classier somehow.

There are a whole bunch more here.
